Who is Sean Scharlau?

Sean is a senior software developer and business-minded consultant. He has spent years building and integrating systems for real operating businesses: point of sale and online ordering, e-commerce migrations, internal ticketing and scheduling, SaaS platforms, and mobile apps.

He is a U.S. Army veteran with a Signal Corps background, which shaped a bias toward clear communication, disciplined execution, and infrastructure that keeps working when it matters.

How does Total BS work?

Total BS is owner-operated. You get direct access to the person doing the work, honest guidance when something is not worth building, and solutions sized to what your business can actually maintain.

  • Start with the smallest thing that solves the problem.
  • Explain tradeoffs in plain language, then write the decisions down.
  • Build for maintenance, because software has a long tail.
  • Be candid about fit. Not every business needs the same tools.

About the name

Total BS stands for Total Business Solutions. The joke is intentional. The work is not.

Who does Total BS work best with?

Owners and small teams, usually 1 to 25 people, who want a capable partner for practical problems: websites that need to earn their keep, internal tools that cut busywork, and IT support that respects the budget.
